retroactive travel plans
We were in New York & Milwaukee last week. I'll be in Washington DC (Direct Current) next week. Just thought you all should know.
It was funny, first time in NY, and only for the forseeable future, and we didn't do anything. our plane landed, we went to our hotel, then we went to the Book Expo (okay, that was something. But it was mostly giving away free copies of our book, and wandering around getting free copies of other peoples books.) Then we spent 2 hours in the hot outsideness (first experience with hot/humid, don't much care to repeat it) trying to get a taxi. Drove back to the hotel, ordered room service, and left the next morning. Our cab driver was laughing at us for not doing any touristy things. We were in the middle of the city, and we couldn't even see the Vampire State Building because some other buildings were in the way. We did, however, see the statue of libery out of the car window, so that's something. We also bought souvenirs at the newsstand at book expo.
In Milwaukee, we ate japanese food alot, and I bought my first umbrella. It was a pushbutton, so you could push the lil button and WOOSH! it would exapnd. it also had this cool cone thingy that protected the outside when it was in the off position. it was neet. Also, ate in the revolving restaurant. It was fun to leave the salt shaker on the window sill, and wait to see how long it took to make it's way back to you.
Also, very neat 3 story old bookstore, that unfortunately, I spent 2 hours in not finding any books I wanted (all the PG Wodehouses were old an expensive. I'm a cheapskate at heart)
Also... that's it.
