Novel Writing live from my cave of an office (no windows -- I have a mac)

So, I have a brilliant idea for a book. I have some really good characters, and the setup is terrribly clever, if I do say so myself, which I do. Just now in fact. But instead of writing it down, I'm writing this. Don't get me wrong, I love writing blog stuff (Well, don't love. Enjoy. Like. Tolerate. Don't actively hate... what I'm saying is, I'm doing this for YOUR enjoyment.) but basically, 2 things happen to me when I sit down to write my novel. I either get distracted, (by like, say, writing blog entries, or doing other stuff) Or get interupted. I constantly lose good ideas or word snippets because I'm-- hold on a sec--

Sorry, I had to go help ScurvyBeard go install new software. Him and computers don't get along, and not just because of hook-hand related reasons. (althoug he is a very slow typer because of it.)

I forgot what I was gonna say! I had the phrasing so perflect in my mind. And now... grr.

1 of the problems is that, even though I've worked out the plot, when I sit down to write, I never want to type what's supposed to be happening, but delve off into sublots, footnotes of dubious nature, and side stories that confuse the issue. I never seem to be able to write what I feel I'm supposed to be writing. I have a great story though. I shan't tell you anything about it, at least for now. I don't want to ruin the surprize. Plus, I still have to figure out how the whole thing ends. Oops. I wasn't supposed to say that. I've got it all figured out! Yeah! I'm a genius. Minor spoiler: The novel contains both the letter 'E' and the letter 'Q'. that's all I'll say for the moment. wait, I changed the Q to an M. I shouldn't have said that, now you'll be able to figure out the whole mystery.

I'm gonna try and get back to work now. I'm unplugging the internet so I don't get disracted. I better check my email first...
